Find A Therapist

Cohen, Phyllis

For over 30 years I have worked with children, parents, couples and families in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I completed training in child and adolescent psychotherapy in 1978, received my doctorate in counseling psychology in 1987, and my post doc in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy in 1996. I have spent most of my career offering training to teachers, parents and therapists. I am the founder and director of the New York Institute for Psychotherapy Training in Infancy, Childhood and Adolescence (NYIPT), and since 2001, I have co-directed the 9/11 Project for Mothers and Young Children who lost a father in the World Trade Center. I enjoy consulting with individuals and couples, to hone in on what their issues are, and what approaches may best help them. I have an expertise in mother-infant interaction, trauma and loss, and family conflicts with adult children.
