When searching the internet, you will come across organizations and individuals calling themselves “psychotherapists,” “counselors,” “therapists,” “life coaches,” and so on. While these terms might sound good, it is important to know that they are not legal terms and therefore do not guarantee good qualifications or experience.
The Postdoctoral Referral Service Online Directory, formerly Psychologistsearch.org, has been in existence for over 35 years. All the therapists listed on this site are doctoral level, state-licensed mental health professionals who are graduates and/or faculty of the very highly regarded NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. Our therapists are located mainly in the five boroughs of New York, in Westchester County, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut. There are also a few therapists outside of this area, all of whom have graduated from the NYU Postdoctoral Program.
