You may be wondering if therapy is for you. Therapy can be many different things to different people. You may have a specific problem you would like to address – a strained relationship, an unsatisfying job, trouble with food or sex. You may be dealing with something more obscure – a vague feeling that something is not right, a general sense of detachment from yourself and others. Or you may need someone to delve with you into the depth of your suffering and bear it with you. Certain experiences and discoveries can only happen in the presence of a professional, supportive other.
Weaving together past and present, fantasy and reality, mind and culture, psychoanalytic psychotherapy allows for hidden or unknown conflicts, needs, and desires to find expression and come to life. At its best, therapy takes you on a journey of self-exploration and self-expansion towards a life that is more fully and joyfully lived.
I work with adults and couples on a wide range of issues and difficulties. I have a special interest in issues of identity, relationship problems, trauma, anxiety and depression, and the creative process, and in working with young adults and people dealing with life transitions, changes, and losses, such as parenthood, immigration, and bereavement.
