Dr. Vorus is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst who works with adults, adolescents, and children, and has been in private practice since 1998. He specializes in helping people deal with the conflicts stirred by important developmental transitions and challenges, from children entering school to adults struggling with marriage, parenthood, divorce, and other life changes. The issues faced by men as they navigate intimate relationships is a particular area of specialty. His approach to treatment is guided by his training in psychoanalysis but remains flexible and responsive to the particular needs, difficulties, and aspirations of those he aims to help. In addition to psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, he consults with parents dealing with child-rearing challenges and provide psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluation to assess learning-related difficulties in both children and adults.
Dr. Vorus completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1998 and earned his certificate in Psychoanalysis in 2004. In addition to private practice, he is a training analyst and faculty member of the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR) and on the faculty of the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. He supervises graduate students in psychotherapy and neuropsychological testing at several clinical training programs and currently serves as book review editor for the journal Psychoanalytic Psychology.
