"I enjoy working with individuals from late adolescence through adulthood who are coping with problems in living: distress in relationships, work, or creativity; psychological trauma; adjustments to transitions and life changes such as college, illness, parenthood, divorce or aging. Mine is a collaborative approach, focusing on relationships, emotions and developing an improved sense of self and well-being. I have additional training in couples work and help partners to enhance intimacy and to better understand themselves and each other.

Many people come to me for help coping with the trauma of medical illnesses or organ transplants or the stress of caregiving. I edited the book A Psychodynamic Understanding of Modern Medicine: Placing the person at the center of care. New York/London: Radcliffe Publishing, 2012.

Parent loss is a special area of interest for me. I work individually and in groups with motherless mothers, that is, women who are mothers, but have lost their own mothers through death, abandonment or estrangement. Please contact me if you would like to be on a waiting list for a Motherless Mothers group."

A graduate of the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, I have had over 20 years of experience as a psychologist in private practice. In addition, I have had numerous, and varied, institutional affiliation, where I have provided services to people of diverse backgrounds, across the lifespan, from childhood to seniority. At teaching hospitals such as Mount Sinai and Brookdale, I had a wide range of responsibilities including diagnostic evaluation and psychotherapy. At the latter hospital, I supervised psychiatric residents and psychology interns in psychotherapy. I have also had extensive experience in a hospital-based school setting as part of a clinical team that provided services for children with special needs.

Currently, I am exclusively engaged in individual therapy, with adults, where I strive to be an attentive listener, and active participant, who meets each prospective patient with a minimum of preconceptions.
