Having been in practice for 55 years, I have had a wealth of experience working with a wide and deep variety of human beings. This means that there is a distinct likelihood that I have encountered and helped people resolve problems similar to yours. It is my belief that I am a better, more seasoned, more sensitive and helpful professional now than ever before in my career and, should you decide to work with me, I'll have the ability and privilege of placing everything I have learned at your disposal. I try to give people the degree and intensity of attention that's necessary to discover the things about themselves that they need to know, the things they have come to therapy to find out about and make use of.

My practice is mainly oriented towards adults and couples. Though deeply inspired by psychoanalytic theories, ultimately, I view therapy as a democratizing practice. I work with my patients to help them gain fulfillment in their intimate lives and free themselves from their presenting symptoms, but also to emerge with increased curiosity about themselves and others and with an enhanced capacity to communicate, to engage in egalitarian relationships, and to participate in the world in creative, impactful ways with and in the world beyond themselves. I listen closely to both conscious and unconscious communication and work to support a person's commitment to his or her life, and sense of agency for it, beyond what parents, families, or society mandate. Lately, my practice has also expanded to include psychedelic and spiritual integration and to treat climate/ pandemic/ political inspired existential anxieties.

Glassman, Noah
Name of Therapist:
Noah Glassman, Ph.D.
Sessions Conducted:
Offering both In-person and virtual sessions
Your experience -- of yourself, your world, and your suffering -- is unique. My primary goal is for us to come to an emotionally rooted understanding of your particular experience together. When this occurs, habitual ways of dealing with life's challenges can begin to make sense and become more flexible, leading to greater feelings of choice and agency about living in the world. This process requires a therapy context of mutual respect, safety, and collaboration; a therapy relationship in which patterns can be explored as they occur both outside and inside the therapy. It's also a context for experimenting with new modes of experiencing and behaving, even when leaving behind the familiar is disorienting or uncomfortable. My perspective encompasses both psychoanalytic and cognitive-behavioral models because one's typical patterns of organizing experience are often outside of awareness. Bringing implicit, "automatic" modes of thinking/feeling more fully into consciousness can allow a greater range of choice about how to live.

For over thirty years, as a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, I have helped adults, adolescents and couples to solve problems of living. My experience has given me a deep respect for the process of psychodynamic psychotherapy and its ability to help people lead more satisfying lives. Often, people seek therapy when they are feeling stuck in work or relationships or when they are experiencing depression, anxiety, pain or other somatic and emotional stresses. Therapy helps them replace ineffective or destructive patterns, leading to a much fuller range of life choices as well as deeper, richer emotional connections to other people.
