I'm a licensed psychologist with a private practice in Tribeca, New York City. I was born and raised in Scotland, and have a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Glasgow. I came to New York City on a Fulbright Scholarship Grant and studied at Bellevue Hospital and NYU-Medical Center. I then completed the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the Contemporary Freudian Society. Presently I am at the NYU Post-Doctoral Program for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. I use Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, particularly Relational Psychotherapy, and I specialize in work with adults with anxiety, depression, loss, and relationship issues.
A large part of my work involves helping people adjust to challenging life situations such as navigating college or professional life, divorce, loss, separation, and recurring relational issues. I like to join you where you find yourself in life, and together we examine your feelings, attitudes and behaviors around your core issues.
Treatment is focused on your personal goals and needs according to your comfort level. Together we will identify any self-destructive patterns or thoughts. Understanding and thoroughly working through these areas often leads to freed up energy towards more realistic goals, more meaningful relationships, and increased self-esteem.
